NSUK and FULafia Join Forces for Academic Excellence
Nasarawa State University and Federal University of Lafia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote local inter-university collaboration.
Nasarawa State University (NSUK) and the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) have formalized their partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The agreement, finalized on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the NSUK Vice-Chancellor’s office, marks the beginning of a new era of collaboration between the two institutions.
The MOU aims to enhance local and inter-university collaboration, fostering knowledge sharing, mobility programs for staff and students, and improved research outputs. The initiative aligns with recent calls by the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities to promote local linkages and collaborative opportunities.

Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, Vice-Chancellor of NSUK, emphasized the early benefits of this collaboration, citing NSUK's recent success in securing an Erasmus+ scholarship for Nursing, a field not offered by the university. This opportunity has been transferred to FULafia, reflecting the practical advantages of their partnership.
In his address, Professor Samaila Dakyes, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Partnerships at FULafia, praised the collaboration as mutually beneficial, highlighting the tangible outcomes already being realized. He urged the continuation of this partnership to maximize its benefits.
Dr. K'tso Nghargbu, Director of Linkages and International Cooperation at NSUK, underscored the strategic advantages of the collaboration, particularly in accreditation processes and shared resources. He also announced that Ms. Favour Sadiq, a Nursing student at FULafia, will be the first beneficiary of the partnership, receiving an Erasmus+ scholarship worth 7 million Naira for a semester in Poland.

The signing ceremony was attended by key figures from both institutions, including Professor Abdullahi Sallau Modibbo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic at NSUK, Dr. Bala Isyaka Ahmed II, Registrar of NSUK, Dr. Aliyu Abdulkadir, University Librarian at NSUK, and Dr. Fatima Adamude, Director of Linkages and Advancement at FULafia.
The collaboration between Nasarawa State University and Federal University of Lafia signifies a promising step towards enriching the educational landscape in Nigeria through cooperative efforts.
