The Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, has pledged to hold accountable those responsible for disturbances and damage to university property during the unrest that followed the Students Union Government (SUG) elections on September 4, 2024. This commitment was made on Wednesday, October 24, 2024, during the reception of the report from the High-Powered Committee tasked with investigating the causes of the recent student crisis.

Professor Sa'adatu expressed her gratitude to the committee for their thorough investigation, emphasizing that the university will no longer overlook such incidents. "Those found culpable in the committee's report will face the full wrath of the law," she declared, stressing that the era of ignoring committee reports is over.

The Vice-Chancellor described the events following the SUG elections as unfortunate, noting that the elections had generated significant interest both within and outside the university. She assured that necessary measures outlined in the committee's report would be implemented to prevent future occurrences of such unrest.

Chairing the committee, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Professor Abdullahi Sallau Modibbo, explained that the report took longer than anticipated due to the receipt of over 40 memoranda from students, staff, and community members, as well as interviews with more than 30 individuals involved in the situation. He expressed confidence that the committee's recommendations, when acted upon, would improve the SUG electoral process and mitigate future conflicts.
