Teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC) have commended the serene learning environment of Elizade University during a resource verification exercise assessing the institution’s readiness to introduce new academic programmes.

The exercise focused on proposed programmes in Public Health, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, as well as M.Phil. and PhD degrees in Architecture.
Four NUC resource verification teams conducted the assessment and paid a joint courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Philip Oguntunde, as part of the accreditation and expansion process.
Speaking on behalf of the teams, Prof. M. M. Garba described the university’s environment as calm, well-structured and suitable for effective teaching, learning and research.
He noted that while the verification process ensures compliance with national academic standards, its broader objective is to strengthen quality delivery across Nigerian universities.

The proposed programmes under assessment include:
- Bachelor of Public Health
- Bachelor of Software Engineering
- Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering
- M.Phil. Architecture
- PhD Architecture
Responding, Prof. Oguntunde attributed the university’s structured environment and academic stability to the vision and standards of its founder, Chief Michael Ade. Ojo.
He stated that the proposed programmes were designed to align with global manpower needs and strengthen the institution’s academic portfolio in emerging and high-demand fields.
He explained that Public Health remains critical across all sectors, while Architecture and the built environment require advanced expertise for sustainable development. He also highlighted Software Engineering and Mechatronics as key drivers of the digital and industrial economy.
According to him, the expansion is both strategic and timely, given the growing global demand for professionals in science, technology and health-related disciplines.
The Vice-Chancellor added that these fields present strong opportunities for innovation, employment generation and economic development.

The Registrar, Mr. Omololu Adegbenro, also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maintaining global standards and producing graduates who are competitive and industry-ready.
The NUC verification exercise represents a key milestone in the university’s drive to secure approval for the new programmes and expand its academic offerings within Nigeria’s higher education framework.
