NYSC Ondo State Coordinator Initiates Health Program for Rural Dwellers

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani, has launched the third quarter Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) program in the Asewele Oja community, Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State.
The primary objective of the HIRD program, as articulated by the NYSC, is to provide quality healthcare services to all Nigerians and residents. The initiative involves deploying competent corps medical volunteers and allied health professionals to deliver free medical services to the grassroots population.

Mrs. Victoria Nnenna Ani, who was represented by Mr. Olugbenga Justus Adefehinti, Assistant Director/Head of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, emphasized the importance of HIRD in promoting the well-being of individuals at the grassroots level. She noted that government agencies, at various levels, might not have the financial capacity to fulfill all their programs simultaneously, making the NYSC's partnership and healthcare service provision a significant contribution.
The NYSC is dedicated to extending its primary mandate of integrating the nation and promoting unity and oneness by practically impacting rural communities. Under the leadership of the Director-General, the NYSC has mobilized corps medical personnel nationwide to address the numerous health challenges and provide essential medical services.

His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Solomon Aderemi Adejayan, the Oworofun of Lapahun Kingdom, debunked misleading rumors that suggested the NYSC Health Initiative for Rural Dwellers (HIRD) aimed to reduce the population through harmful vaccines. He encouraged residents to take advantage of this opportunity to improve their health and appreciated the NYSC's role in molding youth for leadership in society.
The HIRD program is a quarterly event where NYSC, in collaboration with corps medical personnel and allied professionals, offers free medical services to rural and community dwellers. In her opening remarks, Mrs. Martha Ihenyen, Assistant Director/Head of Community Development Service (CDS) Branch, highlighted that the NYSC is among the government agencies prioritizing the development of the nation through rural infrastructure projects and healthcare service provision.
She expressed gratitude to all those who have supported the HIRD initiative and called for continued support and collaboration from philanthropists and non-governmental organizations.
