OAU Law Class of '84 Celebrates 40 Years with Honors and Nostalgia

The 1984 Class of the Faculty of Law at the then University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, celebrated its 40th graduation anniversary last Saturday.

The 1984 Class of the Faculty of Law at the then University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, celebrated its 40th graduation anniversary last Saturday. The event, held at the Sir Adetokunbo Ademola Hall, Nigeria Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos, was chaired by their former teacher, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN).

In his opening speech, Class President Mr. Adedokun Makinde (SAN) reminisced about their university days, highlighting the camaraderie and shared experiences. He emphasized the diverse paths taken by the alumni post-graduation and the enduring bond they share. Makinde also announced the launch of an endowment fund to support the future development of the Faculty of Law.

Prof. Sagay, in his remarks, praised the Class of 1984 for their invitation and recalled the challenges they faced as a large class of nearly 300 students. He expressed pride in their achievements and contributions to various fields.

The class honoured several distinguished members, including Justice Habeeb Adewale Abiru, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services) of the University of Lagos Prof. Ayodele Atsenuwa, and others who have excelled in their careers. The honourees received plaques of honour in recognition of their significant contributions.
