Ojukwu University Launches Solar Project for Medical Students at COOUTH
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has launched a sustainable energy initiative with solar panels to power medical student hostels and address water scarcity at its teaching hospital in Amaku, Awka.
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) is making strides towards a sustainable future with the introduction of solar energy solutions on its premises. As part of a concerted effort to transition to greener energy sources, the University Management has launched a project to install solar panels. These panels are set to power the hostels of medical students located at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), in Amaku, Awka.

Upon completion, the installation will boast 15kw solar panels capable of supplying consistent electricity to the medical student hostels. Additionally, the panels will power a 1.5hp sumo machine, addressing the issue of water scarcity exacerbated by unreliable electricity supply from the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).
