Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, has reiterated that her administration will not condone sexual harassment or extortion of any kind in the institution, warning that any lecturer found culpable will face strict disciplinary action.
Dr. Awuzie issued the warning on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, when the School of Financial Studies paid her a courtesy visit. She stressed that such acts tarnish the image of the Polytechnic and will not be tolerated under her leadership.

The Rector urged lecturers to treat students with dignity and as they would their own daughters, pledging her administration’s commitment to tackling impunity.
“We need to launder the image of our institution. I am pleading with you all for your support. Let us join hands together to make this Polytechnic great. I am also calling on Deans and Heads of Departments to assist us in fighting this war against indiscipline,” she said.

She thanked the School of Financial Studies for their cooperation and support, and congratulated staff members from the school who were recently appointed to various administrative positions in the Polytechnic.
Earlier, Dean of the School of Financial Studies, Dr. Nkechi Aroh, thanked the Rector for appointing staff from her school into her administration and praised her for the numerous projects currently ongoing in the institution. She encouraged Dr. Awuzie to sustain her efforts, while also condemning all forms of extortion and sexual harassment.

Dr. Aroh pledged that the School of Financial Studies would resist such misconduct and called for stiffer penalties for any lecturer found guilty of such offences.
