Pambegua Campus for Nursing and Midwifery Nears Completion, Says Provost

The Kaduna State government is set to inaugurate the Pambegua campus of the College of Nursing and Midwifery, marking a significant milestone in the state's healthcare education sector.

Speaking to journalists in Kaduna on Monday, the college's provost, Yusuf Bello, announced that the Pambegua campus recently secured accreditation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, thanks to the state government’s efforts to complete critical infrastructure.

Bello stated that the campus will begin admitting students for the 2024/2025 academic session, offering National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs in Nursing. A total of 120 students will be enrolled in both the ND and HND programs. He also highlighted that General Nursing and Basic Midwifery programs have been approved across all three campuses of the college.

"The classrooms, science laboratories, library, and other facilities are now fully completed, and the staff are ready to begin academic activities, pending final approval from the state government," Bello said.

Graduates from the ND program will be eligible for direct entry into the HND program and will receive three certifications: Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwife (RM), and Registered Public Health Nurse (RPHN).

Bello expressed gratitude to Governor Uba Sani for supporting the project and ensuring the campus's accreditation. He also acknowledged the role of the local community in the development of the campus.

The district head of Pambegua, Safiyanu Usman, and other local leaders commended the government and the community for their collaborative efforts in completing the project, including infrastructure improvements and the provision of off-campus housing for students.
