President Tinubu Launches Fulako Initiative in Response to Northern Banditry

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given the green light for the launch of the Fulako initiative, a comprehensive plan to build houses, schools, hospitals, clinics, and provide veterinary empowerment and solar energy. This initiative is part of a non-kinetic response to the issues of banditry and kidnapping in the North.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, during his keynote address at the opening of the 2033 Jamaatu Nasril Islam Central Council meeting. The meeting took place at the Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre in Minna, Niger State capital, on Monday.

Malagi explained that the Fulako initiative is a unique humanitarian response by President Tinubu to the impact of banditry in communities. It will be implemented in six northern states: Zamfara, Kebbi, Kaduna, Katsina, Niger, and Benue.

Regarding the 2024 budget estimate presented to the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu, Malagi revealed that N75 billion has been allocated as a Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme and palliative programme. This scheme targets one million Nano businesses across Nigeria with grants of up to N50,000, focusing on traders, transporters, artisans, and others.

Malagi emphasized that the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is committed to providing relief to Nigerians in all the 36 states and Abuja. He called for collective efforts by all to succeed.

In a related development, this was the first time that the Central Council meeting of JNI was held in a state other than Kaduna.
