Prof. Daisy Eruvbetine, a distinguished former Dean at FUNAAB, has generously endowed the university with a 32-bed hostel named 'Thomasville' in honor of her late father.

In a significant act of generosity, Prof. Daisy Eruvbetine, a distinguished scholar and former Dean of the College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has endowed the university with a 32-bed hostel. The donation, comprising 16 rooms, was formally handed over on June 26, 2024, at Mawuko.

Prof. Eruvbetine, who retired after a distinguished career at FUNAAB and served as a member of the university’s Governing Council, expressed that her decision to donate the hostel, named ‘Thomasville’ in honor of her late father, was a gesture of gratitude to the institution.

Upon receiving the building documents, FUNAAB's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, conveyed heartfelt appreciation for Prof. Eruvbetine's benevolence, emphasizing the enduring impact of her donation. "This is a rare gesture. You could have sold it and kept the money, but you chose to leave a lasting legacy for the University," Prof. Kehinde remarked.

He spoke about the hostel's importance in augmenting FUNAAB’s accommodation capacity, particularly benefiting students, including those in the Institute of Human Resources Development (INHURD). Currently, the university faces challenges with limited hostel space, making this endowment crucial for enhancing student welfare and academic experience.

Prof. Kehinde assured Prof. Eruvbetine that the hostel’s name, Thomasville, would be preserved as a tribute to her philanthropic gesture. The donation marks a significant contribution to FUNAAB's infrastructure, supporting its mission to provide quality education and accommodation for its students.
