Professor Carol Arinze-Umobi Hands Over to Professor Ugochukwu Anyaehie as UNIZIK New Vice-Chancellor
Professor Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has officially stepped down, marking the end of her six-month tenure.
She was appointed as the Acting Vice-Chancellor in May 2025 and has been succeeded by Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, who was appointed as the new Substantive Vice-Chancellor by the UNIZIK Governing Council on November 16, 2025.
During her tenure, Professor Arinze-Umobi championed human capacity development, strengthened student and staff welfare, and implemented her administration's mantra: "Feeling the Pulse of Students, Staff… and Finding Solutions." Her leadership brought fresh energy, compassion, and intentional problem-solving to the university community.
Professor Anyaehie, a compassionate and visionary leader, has a sterling track record of excellence and is expected to build on the foundation laid by Professor Arinze-Umobi. His administration is expected to usher UNIZIK into a new era of progress.
