In a move to prevent student disenfranchisement during the upcoming examination period, the Students' Union Government (SUG) of Rivers State University, Port Harcourt (RSUST) has successfully negotiated temporary concessions with the University Management regarding the strict enforcement of the "No ID Card, No Exam" and "No Fees" policies.
The SUG President, Sen. Comr. Martins Marvelous Chukwumeka, stated in a press release on 8th March 2026 that the relief measures specifically target students facing delays with the NELFUND loan scheme and those awaiting physical identification cards.
For NELFUND beneficiaries whose loans have been disbursed but have not yet reflected on the university portal, students are advised to visit the Bursary Unit with their NELFUND disbursement slip for authentication. This verification will allow them to sit for exams and manually sign the attendance register while official fee clearance is still pending.

Regarding ID cards, students who have completed registration but are yet to receive their physical cards may temporarily use an Evidence of Application—a screenshot or printout of their request slip from the portal—for school and examination entry.
Sen. Chukwumeka emphasized that these measures are temporary and urged students to take advantage of the window to fulfill all outstanding obligations to the university.
"Please remain calm, stay focused on your studies, and ensure you have your documents ready before your first paper," he concluded.
These concessions demonstrate proactive collaboration between the SUG and University Management to ensure students’ academic progress is not hindered by administrative delays.
