In a groundbreaking stride towards enhanced healthcare for paediatric patients battling Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) has acquired and flagged off the globally endorsed Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound Scan (TCD) with free services to patients.

This heralds a monumental leap for medical care in the South-South region of Nigeria, positioning RSUTH among the world's leading medical institutions in the management of Sickle Cell Disease.

The Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, hailed this monumental achievement, and officially announced the free Transcranial Doppler Ultrasound Scan fully sponsored by the government of Rivers State under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, the Executive Governor of Rivers State.

This heartwarming initiative by the Governor will help the first 50 SCD patients aged 2 to 16 years at RSUTH to receive complimentary world-class TCD scans.
