Senate President Akpabio to Deliver OAU's 49th Convocation Lecture as 6,454 Students Graduate

Senate President Godswill Akpabio is set to deliver the highly anticipated 49th convocation lecture at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). The event is a highlight of the university's convocation ceremonies, scheduled to run from Wednesday, December 10th, to Saturday, December 13th, 2025.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Simeon Bamire, disclosed that a total of 6,454 students will be awarded degrees and certificates during the ceremonies.
The Convocation Lecture and a distinguished award ceremony, which the Senate President is scheduled to receive, are slated for Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Oduduwa Hall Amphitheatre. The Vice-Chancellor noted that Akpabio, a two-term Governor of Akwa Ibom State, was selected for his renowned scholarship and statesmanship.
Other key figures, including the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, are also expected to be recognized during the course of the ceremonies.
