Service To Humanity: Osun New Era Lions Club Inducts FEDPOFFA Rector, Others As Members

To further enhance service to humanity, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE has been inducted into Osun New Era Lions Club. 

The induction event held on 4th of February 2024 in Osogbo featured prominent personalities, traditional rulers, academicians and Political actors from all walks of life.  

 

In his reaction, the Rector described his induction into the Lions Club as another opportunity to give back to the society through service to humanity. 

He thanked the Principal Officers, Deans and Directors, Deputy Registrars, Head of Departments, Heads of Units and the entire Polytechnic Community for turning out en masse to add colour to the event with their presence.

He equally appreciated his family members, the Osun State Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Hon. Mayowa Adejonrin, the Olojoku of Ojoku Land, HRM, Lion Oba Abdulrazak Adegboyega Afolabi Iyiolaseni III, Alamoyo of Amoyo, Lion Oba Jamiyu Oyebola, and Ekerin iyalode of Osogbo Kingdom, Lion Chief Sadiat Ajoke Osunlana among other well-wishers for their presence and support through good 

will message, and words of encouragement.

 According to him, “The massive turnout is an indication of love, unity, and togetherness that binds the Polytechnic community together as an institution.

“ The Lions Club is a thorough service to humanity and a charitable organization dedicated to the well-being of the less privileged. The induction into this international organization dedicated to charity poses another challenge to further contribute my quota to the growth and development of the community.”

In her welcome address, the Chairperson Investiture Planning Committee, Lion Busola Ogundiya noted that the Lion club has become a beacon of hope and service in the community and the club has grown from the humble beginning into an organization that embodies the true spirit of giving and making difference.

Speaking on the Lions' club achievements, she highlighted some ongoing projects of the club, which include construction of a cancer screening and treatment center at University of Osun teaching hospital Osogbo,

In his handing over speech, the outgoing president of Osun New Era Lions Club, Lion Dr. Adesoji Adebayo Adelekan appreciated the club members for the support throughout his tenure, he stated that the past year has seen many members of the club making progress in different fields ranging from politics, academics among other fields of human endeavor.

While recounting his achievements, he noted that the club was able to touch the lives of people living in the community ranging from diabetics screening, pediatric cancer awareness programme, training youths in different trades, environmental sanitation, empowerment programme, enlightenment programme on eye care with distribution of eyeglasses and drugs during his tenure.

Delivering the acceptance speech, the 10th President of Osun New Era Lions Club, Lion Olusegun Babatunde commended the past presidents, club's convener and other members who made the service to humanity a great pleasure. He therefore promised to provide purposeful leadership, prudence, and accountability as well as unwavering commitment and focus for the positive growth of the club and district.
