The National Centre for Strengthening Mathematics and Science Education (SMASE) In-Service Education and Training (INSET) recently conducted a practical teaching session at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Staff School (NSS), Kaduna.

Speaking with NOUN News, the overseer of the SMASE-INSET Centre at the National Teachers Institute, Kaduna, Mr. Musbahu Adamu Sani, explained that the session included participants from four states of the federation attending SMASE training.

He noted that SMASE’s primary mandate is to train and retrain teachers to build their capacity for effective mathematics teaching and learning in basic schools.

Mr. Sani further clarified that while participants engage in theoretical training at the institution, the practical teaching component is conducted in neighboring schools as part of a corporate social responsibility initiative.
