Reportedly, the lecturer's actions enraged students, who insisted on his public humiliation, citing that "his actions have caught up with him." However, the situation was brought under control by the school's security unit at the Adankolo mini campus.
During questioning, the lecturer implicated his colleagues, alleging they provided him with names of students to manipulate grades based on personal relationships. In response, the university's spokesperson, Mr. Daniel Iyke, confirmed the incident and disclosed that an investigation had been initiated by the management.
Mr. Iyke stated, "The university has its own internal mechanism for taking care of it. The Vice-Chancellor has set up a body to look into it, and the outcome will be made known as soon as possible."
Efforts to reach the alleged victim or her father, reportedly a serving policeman, were unsuccessful as they were shielded from interacting with reporters.
This incident sheds light on the prevalence of sexual harassment in academic institutions and underscores the importance of institutional accountability and student activism in addressing such misconduct.
