The initiative, held on April 1, 2026, was designed to strengthen student preparedness in emergency response while promoting awareness of sustainable development practices within the campus community.

The training brought together students for practical sessions on basic life-saving techniques, including First Aid response and CPR procedures, aimed at improving immediate response to medical emergencies. It also featured sensitisation activities on the Sustainable Development Goals, with emphasis on environmental sustainability, health promotion, and social responsibility.

Discussions during the programme highlighted key development priorities, including the creation of eco-friendly environments, promotion of a stable and sufficient economy, strengthening of social cohesion, advancement of health advocacy, and the encouragement of healthy lifestyle practices among students.

Organisers described the initiative as part of a broader strategy to position healthcare as a critical driver of productivity and institutional development, stressing that student and staff well-being should be treated as a strategic asset rather than a cost.

The Rector of the institution, Victor Okolobah, was noted to have supported the health and wellness-focused agenda of the administration, which continues to prioritise initiatives that promote a healthier campus environment.

The programme also underscored the role of Health Maintenance Organisations in expanding access to healthcare services within tertiary institutions, improving awareness of health insurance systems, and encouraging preventive care practices among young people.
