The announcement was made in a statement released by the university’s ACEO (Information), Bankole Mofolorunso Adegoke, on Wednesday.
The PUNCH Online reported that Fabiyi was killed by suspected cultists. He was reportedly dragged out of the examination hall while writing his final papers and taken to a secluded area on the school premises where he was shot. Although he was rescued after the assailants left, Fabiyi died after being taken to two different hospitals for medical assistance.
The university management has decided to enforce stricter security measures and policies to prevent further incidents. Adegoke's statement emphasized the importance of adhering to these new rules to ensure a peaceful and conducive learning environment.
“The Management of Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, hereby announces the indefinite suspension of students’ celebrations: ‘log out’ and ‘sign out’ activities for all final-year students upon completion of their examinations. This decision follows a recent Management meeting to address the breach of peace on all its campuses. In light of this, Deans of Colleges and Heads of Departments are to refrain from approving any student activities without explicit authorization from the University Management,” Adegoke said.
He also noted that the existing ban on students driving personal vehicles to campus remains in effect, with violators facing stringent sanctions. Additionally, the mandatory use of student identification cards within the university premises will be strictly enforced to enhance campus security and prevent unauthorized individuals from posing as students.
Adegoke concluded by urging all students to comply with these directives to ensure a safe and orderly environment on campus.
