TETFund Donates N3bn to Benue health science varsity
The Tertiary Education Trust Fund has donated N3 billion to the Federal University of Health Science, Otukpo, Benue State.
The Tertiary Education Trust Fund has committed N3 billion to the Federal University of Health Science, Otukpo, Benue State.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Innocent Uja, disclosed this on Friday at a press conference held at the temporary site of the institution located at Otada, a suburb of Otukpo, Benue State.
Prof. Uja explained that with the fund, construction of infrastructure at the permanent site had commenced and expressed optimism that the institution will relocate to the permanent site before the end of 2023.
He said that some lecturers had already started benefitting from TETFund for research grants.
The Vice Chancellor added that the institution had every cause to celebrate the second year anniversary and maintained that the university had zero tolerance for cultism, sex for grades, and other vices.
“Let me state here the support the institution has received from TETFund; our infrastructure is adequate to start with respect to office spaces, classrooms, lecture theatres, laboratories furniture, etc.
“With the support of TETFund, we are strengthening our staff development policy, our young lecturers are completing arrangements to send them for further training.
“We are listed as a beneficiary of TETFund intervention and it is paying off. In fact, we have benefitted worth N3 billion from TETFund.
Professor Uja appreciated the president, Major General Muhammad Buhari (retd.), and former President Goodluck Jonathan, who established the university alongside five others.
The VC also commended a former president of the Senate, David Mark, Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, and others, who he said contributed to making the university a reality.
