FUBK Governing Council Approves Promotion of Two New Professors and 32 Senior Staff

The Governing Council of Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has announced the promotion of 34 staff members, including two distinguished academics to the rank of Professor and two to the rank of Reader.

The decision was reached during the Council's 31st meeting, presided over by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Col. Abdulmumini Aminu (Rtd.). The promotions follow rigorous evaluations by external assessors and recommendations from the Senior Staff Appointment and Promotion Committee (SSAPC).

The elevation to the rank of Professor highlights experts in critical legal and medical fields:

Prof. Junaidu Bello Marshal (Corporate and ICT Laws): Currently serving as the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Kebbi State, Prof. Marshal is recognized for his professional and administrative contributions to technology-related legal frameworks.

Prof. Aisha Nana Adamu (Obstetrics and Gynecology): A Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons, Prof. Adamu has made significant contributions to maternal health at the Federal Teaching Hospital Birnin Kebbi, the university’s hospital campus.

Additionally, Dr. Taslim Olatunde Lawal (Pediatrics) and Dr. Ola-Buraimo Abdulrazaq Olatunji (Sedimentology) were promoted to the rank of Reader.

The Council also approved the promotion of 25 academic staff to the rank of Senior Lecturer. On the administrative side, five senior non-teaching staff were elevated to key leadership positions, including Deputy Bursar, Deputy Director of Medical Laboratory Services, and Principal Assistant Registrar.

According to a statement released by the Head of Information and Public Relations, Jamilu M. Magaji, all promotions are retroactive, taking effect from January 1, 2026.

The Governing Council has urged the newly promoted personnel to remain dedicated to their roles and continue their service to the university and the broader community.
