FUNAAB Partners with GFA Technologies to Drive Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), today, February 5, 2026, entered into a strategic partnership with GFA Technologies to promote digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development within the University Community. The collaboration was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) facilitated by FUNAAB’s Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (CENTS).

The partnership is designed to equip students and alumni with relevant digital competencies, data-driven opportunities, and sustainable pathways into entrepreneurship, in line with global best practices.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, described the collaboration as timely and impactful. He reflected on FUNAAB’s growth from an initial population of about 250 students in 1988 to over 25,000 students today, reaffirming the University’s commitment to holistic education that prepares graduates for real-world challenges.

According to him, partnering with GFA Technologies aligned with FUNAAB’s vision of fostering innovation, relevance, and employability among its graduates. He expressed confidence that the partnership would be mutually beneficial and have a positive impact.

The Vice-Chancellor further highlighted FUNAAB’s expanding academic scope, noting that while the University remained rooted in agriculture, it has made deliberate investments in technology-driven disciplines. These include programmes in Mechatronics

Engineering and the establishment of the College of Computing Sciences, offering specialisations in cybersecurity, data science, software engineering, and Information Technology. He added that the integration of computing and artificial intelligence into agricultural and biological research has already resulted in notable patents and innovations.

In his remarks, the Group Chief Executive Officer of GFA Technologies, Mr. Adebola Omololu, outlined the operational framework of the partnership. He explained that a key component of the collaboration was the deployment of GFA’s proprietary Digital Innovation Management Platform (DIMP), which would provide smart onboarding, customised dashboards, data visualisation, and analytics tools to track students’ and alumni’s career interests, job preferences, and entrepreneurial pursuits.

Mr. Omololu noted that the data-driven approach would enhance personalised mentorship, monitor innovation activities, and offer targeted support to aspiring entrepreneurs within the FUNAAB ecosystem.

The MoU also provided for joint initiatives such as hackathons, networking sessions, webinars, collaborative research projects, and co-developed academic programmes, all aimed at strengthening a sustainable entrepreneurial culture on campus.

Commending the initiative, the Director, CENTS, Prof. Sakiru Akinbode alongside the immediate past Director, Prof. Emily Ayo-John, expressed appreciation to the University Management for championing the partnership. They appreciated the commitment of all parties involved and called for prompt implementation to ensure students and alumni benefit maximally from the collaboration.

The ceremony was attended by the Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi; the University’s Legal Officer, Mrs. Olanrewaju Tanimowo; and representatives of GFA Technologies, including the Deputy CEO, Mr. Tunji Oke, and the Product Manager, Mr. Temitope Dasho, among others.
