Thomas Adewumi University has taken a decisive step toward strengthening academic governance and institutional growth with the official inauguration of its reconstituted Committee of Provost, Deans, and Directors.

The ceremony, held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the University Senate Chamber, signals a renewed commitment to strategic planning, quality assurance, and effective administration amid the University’s expanding academic landscape.

Addressing attendees, Vice-Chancellor Professor Francisca O. Oladipo noted that the committee, initially formed in 2021, required reconstitution due to the University’s rapid expansion and increasing academic responsibilities. She described it as a “very powerful and strategic advisory body,” emphasizing its pivotal role in supporting the Senate Business Committee and overseeing virtually all aspects of university administration.

Professor Oladipo outlined the committee’s mandate, which includes: advising the Vice-Chancellor on policy and administrative matters; coordinating strategic planning across colleges, faculties, and directorates; monitoring the quality of research, innovation, and community service initiatives; harmonizing reports from Faculty and College Boards for regulatory compliance; advising on the maintenance and expansion of academic infrastructure; and performing additional functions assigned by the Vice-Chancellor or University Senate.

Members of the reconstituted committee include Prof. Ayodele B. Omotosho (Provost, College of Medical and Health Sciences), Prof. Emenike O. Irokanulo (Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical and Health Sciences), Prof. Oladipupo S. Oladejo (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Olugbenga Oke-Samuel (Dean, Faculty of Law), and other deans, directors, and senior officers across faculties and directorates. Mr. Adeyanju Y. Yusuf, Senior Assistant Registrar, Academic Affairs, serves as Secretary.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Dr. Abiodun A. Owolabi, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences and Acting Director of the Centre for Distance and e-Learning, expressed gratitude for the University leadership’s confidence. He pledged the committee’s dedication to collaboration, diligence, and effective service delivery in advancing Thomas Adewumi University’s mission.
