University of Ibadan Withdraws 226 Students Over Poor Academic Performance

In a move reinforcing its strict adherence to academic standards, the University of Ibadan (UI) has officially mandated the withdrawal of 226 undergraduate students following their failure to meet the minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) required for continued stay in the institution.

The decision, confirmed following a review of the recent academic session, affects students across various faculties who fell below the university’s established performance benchmarks.

While the news serves as a sober reminder of the institution's high expectations, affected students are typically advised on alternative pathways, which may include applying for "change of course" to less rigorous departments (where permitted) or seeking admission into other institutions more suited to their current academic standing.

Management reiterated that the measure is necessary to preserve the global reputation of the University as a centre of excellence.
