UAT Hosts Commanding Officer of 16 Brigade Engineer Regiment on Familiarisation Visit

The University of Africa, Toru-Orua (UAT), on Friday, 19th September 2025, received the Commanding Officer of the 16 Brigade Engineer Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel A. A. Adewale, during his familiarisation tour to the institution following his recent transfer to the regiment.

The University of Africa, Toru-Orua (UAT), on Friday, 19th September 2025, received the Commanding Officer of the 16 Brigade Engineer Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel A. A. Adewale, during his familiarisation tour to the institution following his recent transfer to the regiment.

Speaking during the visit, Lt. Col. Adewale explained that his mission was not only to acquaint himself with the university but also to explore areas of collaboration that would benefit both UAT and the military community. He assured the university of the regiment’s readiness to provide support when needed, pledging to bring his wealth of experience to bear in fostering mutual growth.

In his response, UAT Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Solomon Ebobrah, commended the gesture and highlighted the cordial relationship the university has enjoyed with the military under past administrations. He stressed the importance of civility in military engagements with students, urging respect for human rights in cases of disciplinary issues, while assuring that the university’s management remains open to handling matters involving students.

Prof. Ebobrah also encouraged personnel of the regiment to take advantage of UAT’s part-time programmes, which, he noted, could be of great benefit to their professional and academic development. He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting collaborative efforts with the regiment whenever possible.

The Commanding Officer was received by the Vice-Chancellor, alongside Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma; Registrar, Dr. Akpoebi Adesi; University Librarian, Dr. Oyinkepreye Sawyerr-George; Director of Security Services; Acting Dean of Student Affairs; and other members of the university management team.
