UBTH, UNIBEN Partner on New 22-Room Office Facility for Improved Medical Student Training

The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) has commenced the construction of a new 22-room office block complex, a project aimed at enhancing the training environment for medical students and strengthening collaboration with the University of Benin (UNIBEN).

The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) has commenced the construction of a new 22-room office block complex, a project aimed at enhancing the training environment for medical students and strengthening collaboration with the University of Benin (UNIBEN).

The groundbreaking ceremony was performed by the Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN, Prof. Edoba Omoregie (SAN), who highlighted the importance of the facility in providing office accommodation for lecturers directly involved in medical education. According to him, the project will ease the burden on staff, improve comfort, and foster stronger ties between UBTH and UNIBEN as partner institutions.

The Director of Physical Planning at UNIBEN, QS Uhunmwangho Eric, explained that the office block is a capital project with a targeted completion timeline of six months.

Representing the Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Stanley Okugbo, expressed gratitude to the UNIBEN leadership for their support and reiterated UBTH’s commitment to sustaining the partnership.

Other officials present at the event included Mrs. J.J. Oyakhilome, Acting Director of Administration, Prof. Mrs. Amina Okhakhu, DCMAC Clinical Services, and Mrs. M. Irhibogbe, Head of the Department of Physical Planning, among others.
