UDUS Biological Science Department Gets New Professors

The Biological Science department under the faculty of chemical and life sciences at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) has proudly announced the promotion of three distinguished lecturers of the department into the esteemed position of professors on Thursday, 9th of May, 2024.

The Biological Science department comprises three units, which are: Plant Science or Botany, Biology and Zoology. The promoted lecturers are: Prof. A F Waziri of Plant Science; Prof. Yahyah Muhammad of Zoology; and Prof. Hafsatu Shehu of Plant Science.

Prof Altine Waziri Fakka is an eminent scholar and well respected lecturer who specialized in plant ecology and showcased unparalleled dedication to teaching and research. He has groundbreaking contributions in Biodiversity and Conservation

His commitments to mentorship have not only shaped the academic trajectory of his students but also inspired a new generation of scholars.

As for Prof Yahya Abdullah Muhammad, a lecturer and a father from the Zoology unit, his promotion to highest academic candre of academic rank is a testament to his innovative research and unwavering advocacy for diversity and inclusion in academia.

His groundbreaking works in Entomology have not only expanded the boundaries of knowledge but also paved the way for a more equitable and inclusive academic community.

Prof Hafsatu Shehu specializes in Mycology and plant pathology. Her exemplary research in the disciplines has not only garnered national acclaim but has also positioned the department as a leader in the field. Her leadership and mentorship have been instrumental and driving strategic initiatives within the department.

Students’ Body Congratulates Lecturers 

The Botanical Students Association of Nigeria, (BOSAN), UDUS chapter extends its warmest congratulations to their lecturers on their well-deserved promotion to professorship.
