UDUS Students Turn to Crypto and Airdrop Mining Amidst Tuition Hike
Amidst a significant tuition hike, students at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) are finding solace in cryptocurrency and airdrop mining to support their finances.

Idris Suleiman, a 22-year-old student, was struggling to pay his school fees and living expenses after being orphaned at 13. However, he discovered Notcoin, a mining project that listed on trading platforms, and cashed out ₦230,000 to cover his expenses.
Similarly, Abdulqadri Salman relies on crypto airdrop mining for his livelihood, stating that it has made a significant difference in his ability to survive the academic session.
Professor Malami Maishanu, a renowned finance expert, emphasizes the potential of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology in shaping the future of finance. He advises investors to allocate a portion of their portfolio to crypto and urges the university to create blockchain and cryptocurrency-based departments.

However, the Central Bank of Nigeria's restriction on cryptocurrency transactions in February 2021 has posed challenges for commercial banks and trading platforms. Despite these setbacks, experts like Raji Toheeb Shola believe that airdrop mining can promote new start-ups and tokens, but also warn of potential scams and poor project management.
