“UI Ready to Renew Collaborations with UBA,” says UI DVC
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration of the University of Ibadan, Professor Peter O. Olapegba, FNPA, fspsp, has stated that the University of Ibadan is open to renewing collaborations with the United Bank for Africa (UBA).
He made this statement on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, while receiving a four-man team from UBA on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor’s office.
Professor Olapegba acknowledged that the bank is one of the oldest banks in Nigeria and reiterated the need for a mutually benefitting relationship with the University of Ibadan.
The DVC stated that the university would gladly consider the propositions of the bank when communicated to the management officially.
The leader of the team, Mr. Bolaji Dare, a Director of the Bank in charge of the branches in Oyo State, had earlier stated that UBA had a long-standing relationship with UI prior the advent of the government Treasury Single Account policy which legislated against direct transactions with commercial banks.
He said that UBA is willing to resuscitate the relationship with UI management, students, and staff through products that will benefit the different stakeholders.
In this light, Mr. Dare proposed that a branch of the bank be situated on the university campus with a defined banking structure to make transactions convenient for staff and students.
Other officers on the UBA team were: Mrs. Temitope Abibu, Regional Manager, Mr. Babatunde Soretire, a Branch Manager and Mrs. Oluwakemi Ibrahim, a Relationship Manager.
