UniAbuja Honours Researchers and Authors for Outstanding Scholarly Achievement

The University of Abuja, through its Centre for Sponsored Projects, has hosted the combined 2024 and 2025 UniAbuja Researchers and Authors Recognition Awards, celebrating academic excellence, high-impact publications, and successful acquisition of competitive research grants.

Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Obiageli Nnodu, Director of the Centre for Sponsored Projects, noted that 21 academics received awards in 2024, while 14 researchers distinguished themselves in 2025 through grants secured from international donor agencies.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi commended the awardees for their scholarly contributions and impact on knowledge advancement. He urged senior researchers to mentor early-career academics, emphasizing knowledge transfer and collaboration as critical to sustaining innovation and research leadership within the University.

The programme included a capacity-building workshop titled “Empowering Researchers to Publish Effectively, Conduct Systematic Reviews, and Manage Funded Projects,” delivered by Dr. Bernard Appiah, Associate Professor of Public Health at Falk College, Syracuse University, USA. The session focused on strengthening competencies in scholarly publishing and project management.
