UNIBEN Student Creates Sculpture of Aisha Yesufu

Emmanuel Omoregie, a final-year student of Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Benin, has created a sculpture of Aisha Yesufu, a prominent Nigerian activist. The artwork was inspired by an iconic photo of Yesufu taken during the #EndSARS protest in October 2020.

Omoregie stated that the sculpture was part of the requirements for his B.A Fine and Applied Arts degree. He made the sculpture to appreciate Yesufu's contributions to contemporary activism in Nigeria, highlighting her dedication to social justice and human rights.

The sculpture has garnered attention on social media, with many praising Omoregie's artistic skill and Yesufu's commitment to activism. Some Twitter users suggested that the sculpture should be displayed at the Lekki tollgate, a significant location during the #EndSARS protests.
