UNICAL: We'll Not Relent in Our Efforts at Providing Quality Education, Says VC, Prof Obi
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof . Florence Banku Obi has said that her administration will not relent in its efforts at providing quality education, saying the students are the glory of the institution.

Prof. Florence Obi who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor ( Academic), Prof. Angela Oyo-Ita stated this at the Council Chamber of the Institution when the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation team paid a working visit to her office.
According to her, the institution does not treat accreditation exercises with levity as it helps the institution improve on the standard of teaching and learning.
Prof. Obi said her administration will not go contrary to NUC approved standard of education, adding that, they will always provide a conducive environment for students.
The University Helmsman said, " If we do not have periodic visits from the NUC accreditation team, we will relax and go slow on the quality of education.
Prof. Obi expressed confidence in the credibility of the accreditation team and urged them to be fair and firm as the institution is currently grappling with electricity challenges.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the Accreditation team, Ven. Prof. Christian Nzotta appreciated the Vice Chancellor and the University Management for the warm reception and show of hospitality towards them.
Prof. Christian Nzotta said they came from different Universities as advised by NUC, adding that, the essence of the visit was to take a holistic look at the academic programmes of the institution especially those due for accreditation.
He commended the Head of Department of Radiography for his efforts and warm reception upon their arrival.

According to him, some facilities that are obsolete should be upgraded to enable institutions compete favourably with other varsities in the country.
Prof Nzotta further congratulated the institution for sustaining a good standard for over 40 years, adding that, they will be fair and firm without compromising on standard, as well as, give relevant advice where necessary.
The academic programmes scheduled for accreditation were; Radiography, physiotherapy and Pharmacology.
