Prof. Florence Obi who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Angela Oyo-Ita stated this during the visitation of four National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Teams at the Council Chamber of the University.
The University helmsman said the Management of the institution appreciates the difficulties involved in attempting to be classed among the best in the comity of Universities delivering quality education and will thus take it as a mission to give in its best.
She commended the leadership of the National Universities Commission (NUC) for pushing Universities to do the best for the nation irrespective of their “strength” at a given time.
Prof. Obi who said "as teachers, we illuminate wherever we find ourselves” commended the zeal and enthusiasm of academics towards achieving better education.
The Vice Chancellor stated that as teachers, they will prioritize the future of quality education, noting that, they cannot afford to turn off the light of education for oncoming generation.
In an earlier address, the representative of all the NUC Visiting Accreditation Teams, Prof. Sunday Amuseghan appreciated the Vice Chancellor and Management for welcoming and making them comfortable and safe amid report of growing security concerns in the country.
Prof. Amuseghan said that their mission in the University is to partner with the institution to ensure that forces confronting quality education are removed so that it can stand out as an instrument of excellence.

The academic programmes covered in this phase of the accreditation visit includes, Education Geography, Education English, Education Management and Guidance/Counselling.
