The Computer Science department in Faculty of Computing, University of Delta, Agbor, has won the maiden edition of Vice Chancellor's I.T Quiz Competition held on Friday, 23rd February, 2024.

The Computer Science department in Faculty of Computing, University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, has won the maiden edition of Vice Chancellor's I.T Quiz Competition held on Friday, 23rd February, 2024.

In a kneely contested competition,the department of Computer Science garnered 60 points to beat the department of Software Engineering and Cyber Cafe, which scored 55 and 50 points, respectively.

"Tagged Prof( Mrs) Stella Chiemeke I.T Competition, the competition had five students representing each department.

In a welcome address,the Dean of the Faculty,Dr Okpako Ejaita, thanked the Vice Chancellor and her management team for giving him the necessary support to organize the event.

Dr. Okpako said the Faculty of Computing is a promising and emerging faculty aimed to train and produce IT competent students/ graduates . He added that the Faculty mission was to produce graduates in character and in learning that are skilled and l.T competent to fit into the 21st century workforce and be ethical leaders in their respective place of work.

Prior to the quiz competition,the students drawn from 100 to three 300 levels in Computer Science,Cyber Security and Software Engineering participated in debate. The topics were : The Introduction of Technology has increased election Mal- practice in Nigeria, Artificial intelligence has made machines smarter than human beings and, Social media has led to reduce societal and cultural values.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Stella Chiemeke who was accompanied by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Patricia Etuna Mbah and the Bursar Mr Sunny Ikeogwu lauded the faculty for organizing such academic program which was designed to test the students knowledge.  

Prof. Chiemeke urged the students to remain focused and to aim for first class. She also pledged to present the sun of one hundred thousand naira to the winner of the quiz competition , seventy thousand naira for the second position, while the third place department will pocket fifty thousand naira

Speaking to the UNIDEL Media Team after the event,the students expressed gratitude to their Dean and Lecturers for the impactful program.
