The Faculty of Computing, University of Delta (UNIDEL), recently held a two-day Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) report presentation, where students showcased the knowledge and skills acquired during their three-month industrial training.

The Faculty of Computing, University of Delta (UNIDEL), recently held a two-day Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) report presentation, where students showcased the knowledge and skills acquired during their three-month industrial training.

The event, which took place from Monday, September 29 to Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Faculty of Computing complex, featured students from the Departments of Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Cyber Security, and Software Engineering. They shared their hands-on experiences and insights gained from various industries where they served.

To ensure smooth coordination, the Faculty divided participants into five groups, with several lecturers assigned to supervise and evaluate each presentation. The Research and Seminar Committee, chaired by Dr. (Mrs.) Deborah Ojie, oversaw the entire exercise.

In his remarks, the Acting Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Ejeita Okpako, an Associate Professor of Computing, stated that the initiative was designed to bridge the gap between classroom theories and real-world applications. He emphasized that the Faculty aimed to prepare students for professional practice and inspire them to take their final-year projects seriously.

“With this process or defense, we want to be very sure that the students actually learnt something beyond what they were taught in class, and that they can demonstrate both knowledge and character required to fit into the 21st century,” Dr. Okpako said.

The presentation was attended by several academic staff including Dr. (Mrs.) Ojie Deborah Voke, Dr. F. A. Agware, Dr. (Mrs.) B. O. Malasowe, Dr. Andy Emuobonuvie, Mr. Dono Okeh, Dr. Austin Orukpe, Dr. Eyotor Okoh, Dr. Richard Oveh, Mr. M. C. Opone, and Mr. Boyce Iyama.
