The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Library has announced its membership with Crossref International, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the global scholarly research community through open digital infrastructure. This membership enables the UNILAG Library to generate Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for journal articles and books with existing web pages.

Editors of Faculty/Department Journals are encouraged to submit requests for DOI registration to the library via email at library@unilag.edu.ng. However, there are specific requirements for DOI registration:

  1. Articles must have been accepted for publication.
  2. Requests should be submitted before the production of the print copy.
  3. Journals must have an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN).
  4. Journals must have a web presence.

Crossref facilitates the discovery, citation, linking, assessment, and reuse of research objects. As a not-for-profit organization, Crossref aims to improve scholarly communications globally. With over 17,000 members from 146 countries and millions of records, Crossref plays a crucial role in enhancing the accessibility and visibility of scholarly research.
