Come October 2023, there will be a refreshing, functional and vibrant ambience to the University of Lagos Main Library.

True to their words, Alpha Morgan Capital Managers Limited, the sponsors of the UNILAG Library Maker’s Space and ground floor remodelling, and James Boer Limited (JBL), the project contractor are working assiduously with necessary members of the University community to deliver the project in record time.

As part of measures to ensure the vision for the space is fully integrated into its redevelopment, a site meeting was held on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

Present at the meeting were the: University of Lagos Librarian, Professor Yetunde A. Zaid; Ag. Director of Works and Physical Planning Department, Engineer Johnson A. Akinwande accompanied by some staff of the Department; representatives of Alpha Morgan Capital Managers Limited, Mr. Bidemi Alfred and Ma’am Jane Aloke; Managing Director of James Boer Limited, Adm. James Boer (Rtd) accompanied by staff & interns of the company working on site and representative of the Communication Unit, University of Lagos, Nike Ogunshakin.

Arc. Shemo Akpene, Project Director, JBL (and UNILAG alumnus) gave the group a technical tour of work done thus far. His descriptions helped participants at the meeting visualise some of the design elements that are intended to add beauty and functionality to the project.

Arc. Shemo further explained that some of the work in progress were offsite and would be installed at appropriate intervals during the construction process.

Several questions and concerns were addressed and the meeting came to a close with workable solutions to achieve the optimal outcome for the project.
