The newly inaugurated leadership, themed the "Renaissance Administration," marks the formal return of organized student unionism to the institution since its suspension a decade ago. The revival is seen as a strategic move to foster a more inclusive and collaborative relationship between the university management and the student body.

In her address, Professor Ogunsola emphasized that the return of the union is built on a foundation of mutual respect and constructive engagement. She charged the new executives to lead with integrity, noting that their primary role is to serve as a bridge that enhances the academic and social experience of all "Akokites."

Broad Representation

The inauguration covered a wide spectrum of the university’s governance structure, ensuring that the interests of various student demographics—including those in residential halls and part-time programmes (ICE)—are adequately represented in the new administrative framework.

The "Renaissance Administration" has pledged to focus on student welfare, infrastructure advocacy, and restoring the vibrant tradition of intellectual and social activism for which UNILAG was historically known.
