UNILORIN Geophysics Department Hosts Maiden M.Sc. Thesis Defense
The University of Ilorin's Geophysics Department held its first M.Sc. thesis defense on July 4, 2024, marking a significant milestone since the introduction of its postgraduate programs.

The Department of Geophysics at the University of Ilorin proudly held its inaugural M.Sc. thesis defense on Thursday, July 4, 2024. This event marks a significant milestone for the department, which introduced its M.Sc. and Ph.D. postgraduate programs during the 2021/2022 academic session.
The defense featured two research projects, presented by M.Sc. students Okekeoguegbe O.A. and Olajolo O.S., and was evaluated by an esteemed panel including Prof. O.G. Bayowa, External Examiner from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso. Prof. Bayowa praised the high quality of the research, attributing the success to the collaborative efforts of the department’s staff. He encouraged continued cooperation and dedication to maintain such standards.

Prof. S. Olatunji, Head of the Department of Geophysics, expressed gratitude to the University management for their support, particularly in providing essential facilities like the Intergraph Room, which has enhanced research capabilities. He also commended the department’s staff for their hard work, which contributed to the successful defense.
The successful defense of these research projects marks a significant achievement for the Department of Geophysics and sets a precedent for future postgraduate defenses.
