The move comes after repeated negotiations and appeals to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to end the strike, which has disrupted the academic calendar and affected students.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdul-Rasheed, the management has conceded ground on several issues, including promotion, deanship elections, and recruitment. However, ASUU has not shown a willingness to compromise, despite the university's goodwill and offers of negotiation.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the 'No Work No Pay' policy is not intended to make life difficult for academic staff but rather to emphasize the importance of returning to work and finding a resolution to the strike. He urged ASUU to call off the strike and work towards implementing the agreements reached during negotiations.
