Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has approved the appointment of Professor Jacinta Ukamaka Eze as the substantive University Librarian following a decision of the Governing Council at its recent meeting.

The appointment forms part of broader institutional reforms aimed at strengthening the university’s academic support systems, research capacity, and digital knowledge infrastructure.

Professor Eze is a seasoned scholar in Library and Information Science with extensive academic and administrative experience. She previously served as the pioneer and two-time Head of the Department of Library and Information Science at Enugu State University of Science and Technology, where she contributed significantly to programme development and departmental leadership.

She also served as Acting University Librarian at ESUT, a role in which she oversaw library operations and academic information management systems. In addition, she was the immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Library Association, Enugu State Chapter, where she played a key role in professional coordination and sectoral advocacy.

Her appointment at UNIZIK is expected to drive modernization of library services, deepen digital resource integration, and strengthen support for teaching, learning, and research across disciplines.
