The Vice-Chancellor of the newly upgraded Federal University of Education, Zaria (FUEZ), Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure, led a high-powered delegation on a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

The visit comes as the institution solidifies its transition from a Federal College of Education to a full-fledged University of Education, a move recently reflected in its commencement of degree admissions for the 2025/2026 academic session. 

Professor Bunkure was accompanied by the university’s key administrative officers, including:

The meeting highlights the ongoing collaboration between the university management and legislative leadership to ensure the successful takeoff of the institution’s new status. Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, who represents the Zaria Federal Constituency, has been a vocal advocate for educational development in the region, recently flagging off multiple infrastructure projects and scholarship schemes in Zaria. 

The Vice-Chancellor’s visit is seen as a move to brief the Speaker on the university's strategic plan and seek continued legislative support for the institution's expanded mandate in teacher education and research.
