The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi has informed the Leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA )that the University is proud of the calibre of people it has produced.

The Vice-Chancellor who was ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Angela Oyo-Ita stated this when executives of the Nigerian Medical Association, Cross River State Chapter paid her a courtesy visit recently.

Prof. Obi said she is elated that they are well-represented at the National level and making a great impact in the Medical fieldThe Vice-Chancellor said the University is willing to support the Association to the best of her ability, promising to be well represented at the body's forthcoming event.

In an earlier remark, the state Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Felix Archibong said the Association will be hosting all Nigerian Doctors to an event tagged - "Annual Delegate Meeting"- where elections will also be conducted.

He also said the event is scheduled to be held at the Calabar International Conference Center on the 5th of May, 2024.

While acknowledging the impact of UNICAL in the NMA, the State Chairman added that 5 out of the 6 State Chairmen so far are products of the University of Calabar.

He said that they have come to pay homage to their alma mater, and requested that the Vice Chancellor grace their event as the Special Guest of Honour.
