"We're Passing Out from Hunger", Abia State Teachers Tackle Otti

Public elementary teachers in Abia State have tackled the Alex Otti-drove government for supposedly exposing them to penury north of 90 days of neglected compensation. A particular teacher said "government is a fraud. If nothing is done, Christmas will be bleak for us all" while calling on Nigerians at large for help.

Public elementary teachers in Abia State have tackled the Alex Otti-drove government for supposedly exposing them to penury north of 90 days of neglected compensation.

As per a portion of the laborers who addressed our columnists, the proceeded non-installment of their pay rates by the public authority has brought wretchedness upon them. They added that they have turned to begging to take care of their families because of difficulty.

The educators added that they had satisfied all conditions expected of them, especially staff check yet they are being denied pay rates.

"We Abia state grade teachers and staff have kept on being avoided from installment regardless of being checked. Something that took Charles Soludo in Anambra a month to sort, his Abia partner, Alex Otti has spent very nearly a half year however yet salaries keep on being denied, short paid and the following thing they tell us is to print our bank explanations and bring to the Umuahia," one of the educators expressed.

"We teachers are heart broken in Abia state. Different states are eenjoying their new governors yet we teachers are suffering here here."

Another teacher expressed the greater part of them had become bums and at present passing on from hunger.

He said, “In Aba North and Aba South, most primary school teachers are being owned three months salaries, workers in other sectors had been paid November salaries, yet we were not paid again.

“Next thing they will say is we should print our bank statements and nothing will come out of it. Brother, I am a victim. How will I spend December without salary? Many in Abia state are crying, dying. After being verified with sufferings, there is yet no salary for three months. That is July, April and now November. 

“Nigerians should help us; Alex Otti is suffering us in Abia. To me, the government is a fraud. If nothing is done, Christmas will be bleak for us all.”
