YABATECH Forges Collaboration with Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps
Yaba College of Technology (YabaTech) is set to establish a collaborative partnership with the Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps (NAOC) to advance mutual goals in polymer, textile, and printing. Major General Jonathan Ugwuoke, NAOC Commander, led a delegation to YabaTech, expressing the Corps' interest in sourcing materials locally for the production of army uniforms to boost the nation's economy.
In a strategic move towards advancing mutual objectives, Yaba College of Technology (YabaTech) is poised to collaborate with the Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps (NAOC) in the realms of polymer, textile, and printing. The NAOC, led by Commander Major General Jonathan Ugwuoke and a distinguished team, embarked on a courtesy visit to YabaTech to explore potential areas of cooperation.
During the visit, Major General Ugwuoke underscored NAOC's role in providing technical support to defense forces, particularly in the procurement, storage, and distribution of army uniforms. Emphasizing the importance of sourcing materials locally, he highlighted YabaTech's pivotal role in quality control and assurance for materials produced by indigenous manufacturers.
YabaTech's Polymer and Textile Department will be instrumental in evaluating samples of materials intended for army uniforms, guiding the Corps in awarding contracts for supplies. Major General Ugwuoke expressed confidence in YabaTech's ability to meet the endorsed quality and standard set by the Nigerian Army.
The collaboration aims to position YabaTech as a key contributor to the production and supply of army uniforms nationwide. The NAOC Commander also expressed interest in expanding the partnership to YabaTech's School of Art Design and Printing (SADP) for the printing of various items, including Nigerian Army forms and school materials for primary and secondary schools affiliated with the Nigerian Army.

Dr. Engr. Ibraheem Abdul, representing the Rector of YabaTech, expressed the institution's commitment to collaboration with industries, both within and outside the country. He emphasized the college's role in preparing graduates for the workforce and thanked NAOC for the initiative, recognizing the potential to boost the college's internally generated revenue.
Mr. Uduak Iyang-Udoh, Deputy Rector Administration, assured Major General Ugwuoke that YabaTech values the partnership and is committed to sustaining a beneficial relationship. The collaborative efforts between YabaTech and NAOC represent a significant step towards fostering innovation, supporting local industries, and providing practical education for students.
