The Chief Medical Director of Yobe State University Teaching Hospital (YSUTH), Professor Baba Waru Goni, has congratulated the pioneer graduates of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy programme of Yobe State University on their successful induction into the medical profession.
Prof. Goni gave the commendation during the induction and graduation ceremony of the first cohort of Physiotherapy graduates from the College of Medical Sciences, Yobe State University, describing the occasion as a landmark achievement in the advancement of healthcare education and healthcare workforce development in Yobe State.
Representing YSUTH at the historic event alongside the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Dr. Habu Abdul, the CMD noted that the graduation of the pioneer set of physiotherapists reflects the collective commitment of the Yobe State Government, Yobe State University, regulatory bodies, and healthcare institutions towards strengthening healthcare delivery through quality education and professional training.

According to Prof. Goni, physiotherapists play a critical role in modern healthcare, contributing immensely to rehabilitation, pain management, disability care, injury recovery, and the restoration of patients’ functional independence.
He further observed that the emergence of locally trained physiotherapy professionals represents a significant milestone in addressing healthcare workforce needs while expanding access to quality rehabilitation services across Yobe State and beyond.
The CMD congratulated the newly inducted professionals on reaching an important milestone in their careers and encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, compassion, and ethical conduct in service to humanity.
Prof. Goni also commended the Executive Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON, for his unwavering support for healthcare and medical education, as well as the leadership of Yobe State University, the College of Medical Sciences, and the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board of Nigeria for their commitment to academic and professional excellence.
He reaffirmed YSUTH’s commitment to supporting the training, mentorship, and continuous professional development of healthcare personnel as part of the Hospital’s broader vision of delivering world-class healthcare services and advancing clinical excellence.
The ceremony brought together government officials, university administrators, healthcare leaders, academics, professional regulators, students, parents, and other stakeholders in celebration of a historic achievement that further strengthens the future of healthcare delivery in Yobe State.
