Zamfara Governor Urges TETFund to Boost Support for State Universities Amid Education Crisis

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has requested increased intervention funds from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to enhance infrastructural development in state-owned tertiary institutions.
During a courtesy visit to TETFund's Executive Secretary, Arc Sonny Echono, in Abuja on Thursday, Lawal highlighted the financial challenges facing Zamfara and the recently declared state of emergency in the education sector. "In November, we declared an emergency in education. I’m here to follow up on support to improve conditions in Zamfara," he said.

Echono assured that despite security challenges, TETFund is committed to ensuring continuous education in Zamfara. "We are doing a lot despite the security issues. We want to ensure every student has access to quality education," he said.

Echono acknowledged that some of the projects initiated by previous governments faced funding issues. He noted that the initial constraint in taking over such projects involves distinguishing TETFund initiatives from those solely embarked upon by the state.
