17-Year-Old Student Arrested for Kidnap and M*rder of 5-Year-Old Boy

The Plateau State Police Command apprehends a 17-year-old student for the kidnap and subsequent murder of a 5-year-old boy after receiving a ransom of N400,000.CP Julius Alawari, the State Commissioner of Police, provided this information during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Jos, Plateau State.

The Plateau State Police Command apprehends a 17-year-old student for the kidnap and subsequent murder of a 5-year-old boy after receiving a ransom of N400,000.CP Julius Alawari, the State Commissioner of Police, provided this information during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Jos, Plateau State.

The incident was reported after 5-year-old Dawon Pam went missing, despite efforts to locate him throughout the night. The next day, a pair of the victim's shoes was found near a note demanding a ransom of Five Million Naira (N5,000,000.00).

A police team led by SP Okala Ugbede initiated an investigation and was able to locate the kidnappers. They arrested one of the culprits, Elisha Anthony, a 17-year-old SS3 student, who confessed to conspiring with an accomplice known as AKA Malic. The victim was taken from his father's compound to an uncompleted building, where he was tied up, and a ransom of N400,000 was collected from his parents. Subsequently, the accomplice, Malic, strangled the victim while Anthony held him.

The police team visited the scene and recovered the victim's body, which was taken to the Plateau State Hospital for confirmation and necessary action. The investigation continues to arrest the fleeing suspect and any other accomplices.

In his confession, Elisha Anthony mentioned hardship and suffering as the motive behind his actions, revealing that he demanded a ransom of five million Naira. He recounted how the 5-year-old boy was kidnapped, hidden, and subsequently killed by strangulation.
