AAU Shuts Down as Lecturers Join ASUU’s Two-Week Nationwide Strike
Academic activities at Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, have been suspended following the institution’s decision to join the two-week nationwide strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Academic activities at Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, have been suspended following the institution’s decision to join the two-week nationwide strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The decision was reached during the ASUU-AAU Congress held on campus earlier today, where members unanimously resolved to comply with the union’s national directive.
As a result, all lectures and academic engagements have been halted across faculties, leaving students in uncertainty over the fate of the ongoing academic session. The industrial action comes just days before the second semester was scheduled to begin on November 3, 2025.
Students have expressed frustration that the strike could further destabilize the university’s calendar, which has struggled to recover from previous disruptions.
ASUU’s nationwide strike, according to the union, aims to press the federal government on long-standing demands such as improved funding for public universities, enhanced welfare for lecturers, and better working and learning conditions.
As of press time, AAU management has not issued an official statement regarding the strike or its impact on the current session.
