ABSU Dispels "Stranded Law Students" Claims, Blames Backlog on National Quota System
The Management of Abia State University (ABSU) has issued a formal rebuttal to a recent Daily Post online article, published December 4, 2025, titled "STRANDED ABSU law students cry out after four years," describing the information within the report as "distorted."
In a statement signed by the Acting Public Relations Officer, Chijioke Nwogu, the university clarified the situation regarding the mobilization of its Law graduates for the mandatory Nigerian Law School program.
The university administration maintained that the issue of a backlog is a "national issue and is not peculiar to ABSU." The statement explained that admission into the Nigerian Law School is highly competitive and restricted by a national quota system, which mandates that prospective candidates with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Averages (CGPA) are mobilized first due to limited space.
The statement dismissed figures quoted in the Daily Post article as "bloated" and refuted allegations that the university plans to only compile names of the 2025 graduating set, ignoring previous years’ graduates.
"The Governing authorities of Abia State University Uturu is working assiduously to clear this inherited backlog of law graduates yet to be mobilized for law school as soon as possible," Mr. Nwogu stated.
The university advised parents, guardians, and students to exercise patience, remain calm, and be properly guided by official universitcommunicationss.
